Chad runs Kokomo cushion to 2nd place in Indiana

Sunday, June 10

Prior to Sunday night, Chad Boat viewed the track at Kokomo Speedway to be the toughest he has faced in Indiana.  “The cushion builds up big and right against the wall, and you have to run right against it to be fast.  Most laps you bounce off the wall, but it is the fast way around.”

After starting at the back of the heat race due to his 3rd quick qualifying time, Chad drove to a 4th place finish, good enough for a transfer spot and a 2nd row inside starting spot for the main. At the green flag in the feature Chad quickly drove to the front and was pacing the field by lap 5, leading the first ten laps of the event. After a yellow flag on lap 10 the # 53 of Jon Stanbourgh (11 feature wins so far this year) was fixed on Chad’s bumper. When the race went back green Stanbourgh drove to the bottom in turn 3 to make the pass as Chad challenged on the outside. Stanbourgh made the pass stick and drove to the win while Chad drove a great race finishing in 2nd, his best finish so far on the Indiana racetracks.

Friday June 8th

The Bloomington Speedway was slick this Friday night, and by feature time it had developed two distinct grooves, one right on the bottom and one way around the top. After winning his heat race Chad started in the fifth position and was running fourth until a broken fitting in the oil tank caused his RoomStore/ Maxim to smoke heavily. Chad finished the race but gave up a few positions at the end, finishing in the 10th position.

Saturday, June 9th

It was the 50th anniversary of the Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana this Saturday, and Chad was ready for the big 50 lapper. After starting 5th in his heat race Chad drove to 2nd, earning him a 6th position starting sport for the main event. At the green Chad drove a steady race and ran in the top 6 with the leaders in site. The track was fast as positions 3 to 6 battled top and bottom. With three laps to go Chad was challenging for the 5th spot when another car drove into his left rear tire, causing a flat tire. The crew quickly changed the tire under the yellow and sent Chad back out on the track, staring him back in the 12th position (he had already lapped many cars) with only 3 laps to go. Chad charged back through the field, gaining back four spots and finishing in the 8th position.
