Chad Boat Sails Past Sherman
at Casa Grande!
May 12,2007
15-year-old dynamo Chad Boat put a screeching halt to a seemingly unstoppable Jeremy Sherman in American Sprint Car Series Canyon Region action, as the young gun charged to victory lane in Saturday night's 25-lap feature at Central Arizona Raceway.
Chad started 5th in the feature but found the high groove early, moving by former champion Josh Pelkey for third on lap five. Chad then set his sights on Sherman, who has been undefeated in four races this year and was going for an ASCS record 5 th straight win. Sherman has won the Arizona Championship the last two years with over 20 victories. Working the top of the racetrack like a veteran, Chad moved around Sherman entering turn one and set his sights on leader Charles Davis. Chad and Davis battled side by side for two laps before Chad finally made the pass stick, then pulling away to a ˝ straight-a-way advantage. Sherman moved by Davis and challenged Chad during numerous yellow flag restarts in the closing laps, but the teenager withstood the pressure and pulled away for the win.
“We have been running fast this year, but it seemed like we always had some kind of problem that kept us from a good finish. My crew gave me a great car for the slick track tonight. This is a great way to start our trip to Indiana.”
Chad and crew will embark on a seven week trip to the bullrings of Indiana this week, racing 22 races for the next weeks at local tracks. Stay tuned to www.chadboat.com for weekly updates.
