Starting off his night of racing was heat race action for the AMRA midgets. Chad was lined up on the outside of the second row for the start. At the drop of the green flag, Chad was running in 3rd, when the yellow flag flew for a car that had spun and stopped on the track. On the restart, Chad moved to the outside and powered his way into second place. Another yellow flew on Lap 3 closing up the field, and the restart, Chad moved into the lead coming off of Turn 4 and pulled away for his first heat race win of the year with the AMRA.
Next up was the heat race for the ASCA sprint cars. Chad started on the inside of Row 2, and on the start, a car got into the wall, requiring a complete restart. On the restart, Chad was running 3rd at the end of Lap 1, and held on to that position to earn a transfer spot into the Main Event.
Chad started the 20-Lap AMRA Midget Main Event on the inside of the second row. At the end of Lap 1, Chad was running 2nd, but by Lap 17 he had dropped back to fifth. A yellow flag closed up the field, and Chad changed his line on the racetrack and moved into second place as the green flag flew for the restart. He put the car to the top of the track and was challenging Bugs Norbury for the win as the checkered flag fell.
The ASCA Main Event also had Chad lined up on the inside of the second row. As the green flag waved, Chad was running 3rd. He held on to the position for several laps but he battled a loosed race car and blistered the right rear tire. He fell back to 11th place at the end of the race, which ran all 25 laps without a yellow flag.
Chad’s next race will be June 17th at the Bull Ring in Las Vegas with the ASA SpeedTrucks. Chad had a 5th place finish in his last race there, and he’s looking forward to another successful run in Las Vegas.
