4th Place at Orange Show Caps Holiday Weekend for Chad Boat

July 1, 2006

Returning to the ¼ mile Orange Show in Sanbernadino, CA for the 4th ASA Speedtruck event of the year, Chad Boat was eager improve on his last visit to the track. “I feel like I have learned a lot about racing these trucks, and it is always better when you come back to a track you have some laps on.”, Chad said before the race.

The night started with qualifying, and Chad knew starting position would be key as passing can be difficult at Orange Show. Randy Nelson had the Billy Boat Performance Exhaust Dodge tuned to perfection and Chad cut a great two laps, turning a lap of 14.16, good for the third qualifying position. A roll of the dice for the inversion had Chad lining up on the inside of the second row for the 100 lap feature event.

At the drop of the green flag Chad moved to third behind Darrin Young and Victor Fluger. Three time series champ Lee Hatch was right on Chad’s bumper, and continue to hound Chad until he was able to squeeze by on the inside on lap 31. Hatch also worked his way by Fluger, and Chad was now fixed on fighting for the 3rd position. Several yellow flags gave Chad a chance to make a run at Fluger, but was to no avail as Fluger held Chad off and Chad finished in the fourth position, the highest finishing rookie driver in the race.

“My truck was a little loose, and I had a hard time getting the power down in turns one and two. It is great to be the highest finishing rookie, and I hope we can build on this run as we head into Madera.”, Chad said after the race. With his fourth place finish Chad moved to within one point of the lead in Rookie of the Year point standings.
