Chad Boat came into Saturday night’s AMRA midget race 4th in points and the top-rated rookie. He started his heat race in the 6th position. He has to tag the first 3 races because of his rookie status, but by the end of Lap 2, he was running 3rd. On the next lap, he moved to 2nd, and a red flag came out when a car got upside down. No one was injured, and on the restart, Bugs Norbury had the lead with Chad running second. Chad closed in on the leader on the final lap, but Norbury held on for the win with Chad finishing a very close second.
Chad lined up for the 20-lap Main Event on the outside of Row 8. As the green flag waved, Mike Burkhart, who started on the pole, took the lead, and Chad moved into the 14th position by the end of Lap 1. The yellow flag waved on Lap 3 and Chad was running 11th, and John Sarna had moved into the lead.
On the restart, Chris Edwards flipped on the back straight-of-way bringing out the red flag again. Chad restarted in the 9th position with only 2 laps completed. On the next restart, 3 cars stacked up in front of Chad, and he came to a stop on the track and was hit by another car. Chad’s car had front-end damage, and he was unable to continue in the race.
