On a very hot Friday night, Chad Boat started the night of AMSCA Mini Sprint racing by running in the trophy dash. Michael Colegrove took the lead from the outside of the front row, with Chad moving into 2nd from his 3rd row starting position. Colegrove took the win with Chad finishing in the 2nd position.

Chad started Heat Race #2 on the outside of Row 2 and had moved into 3rd place when the red flag was waved when Kurt Stults got upside down on the back straight of way. On the restart, polesitter, Michael Colegrove had the lead, with Dennis Parks running in 2nd and Chad in 3rd. Chad took over 2nd on the restart and closed in on Colegrove with one lap to go, but didn’t have enough time to make the pass for the win and finished in the 2nd position.

The 20-lap Main Event had Chad lined up on the outside of Row 2. It is said that you can’t win the race on the first lap, but someone forgot to tell Chad. With Colegrove starting on the front row, Chad knew that he had to get to the front in a hurry. He went to the high side of the track as the green flag waved and had the lead in less than a lap. Colegrove put the pressure on Chad, but Chad handled lapped traffic with ease. A yellow flag flew on the 17th lap and Colegrove and the rest of the field were able to close in on Chad. On the restart, with 3 laps to go, Chad pulled away and took the checkered flag for his 5th Mini Sprint feature win at Manzanita and his 6th victory of the year with the AMSCA.
