Chad Boat started his first race in a full sized Midget on a beautiful, Saturday night at Manzanita Speedway. Running #30 on his car, Chad started the first heat race in the 7th position. Since this was his first race with the Arizona Midget Racing Association, Chad had a rookie flag waving from his roll cage and he had to tag his heat race. Chad raced his way to 3rd by the end of Lap 2 and finished the 6-lap heat race in the 3rd position. Jerry Coons , a USAC National Midget Series driver came away with the win, with Cole Houser finishing in the 2nd position.
Chad started the 20-lap Main Event on the inside of Row 9. He will have to tag at least 3 races because of his rookie status with the AMRA. By Lap 3 Chad had moved into the 15th position, when a car spun out right in front of Chad, but he was able to avoid the spinning car and was ready for the restart. After the restart, 5 cars got together coming out of Turn 4, and again Chad was able to avoid the crash and restarted in the 10th position.
Chad continued his move to the front, and by Lap 10, he had moved into the 6th position. The yellow flag flew on Lap 13, and on the restart Chad got held up in traffic and lost a couple of positions, but he finished his first race with the AMRA in the 8th position. He accomplished his goal of staying out of trouble on the track, and had a solid Top 10 finish. Jerry Coons led wire to wire for the win with Brad Kuhn, another National series driver, finishing in second.
