Chad Boat ReadyFor Tough USAC Sprint Week |
With eight races in 11 days and over 50 cars per night, the USAC sprint week schedule can be one of the toughest in racing. Chad Boat came into sprint week looking to make every race and finish in the top 10, which can be a tall task for a USAC rookie. Qualifying sets the tone for the night, as it is difficult to come from the back of the field in the feature event. In three races so far, Chad has made each feature but started in the back every time, working his way to finishes of 18th (after having a flat), 13th, and 14th. In the opening night at the new Lawrenceburg Speedway, Chad started the feature n the 18th position and had worked his way up to 12th before a flat right front brought him to the pits. The crew changed the tire and he went back to 24th, working his way back up to 18th at the finish. The second night Chad started in the 24th position in the feature and drove his way to 13th, running a smooth and consistent race. The third night at the Gas City Speedway Chad went out late to qualify and had to run the last chance race, but transferred through into the heat. After starting 10th in the heat Chad drove a great race to a 4th place finish and a spot in the main. He started 22nd in the main and finished 14th on a track that was around the bottom and hard to pass. “Sprint week is all about qualifying, and so far we have not qualified well enough,” Chad said. “I know we can race at the front, but we need to qualify better to start up front. The nice thing about sprint week is you don’t have to wait very long until the next race.” Chad in Victory lane at Hagerstown
