Chad Boat Rolls Snake Eyes in Las Vegas |
Coming off two impressive runs at the Copper on Dirt, Chad Boat was looking forward to the dirt track at Las Vegas in the USAC/CRA sprint car. But luck can be a fickle thing in Vegas, as Chad ended both nights on the hook. Chad was running a strong top five on night one when he made contact with the spinning car fourth place car, while a broken right rear radius rod and contact with the turn four wall ended his race on night two. Qualifying at Vegas is done group style, and group three was the place to be as the track was a quagmire of mud in the early sessions. Chad qualified 11th and finished 2nd in his heat, leading to a second row inside starting position. At the drop of the green Chad settled in, racing hard and trading the third, fourth, and fifth positions with other drivers. As Chad attempted a pass on the outside of Tyler Brown on lap 13, Brown spun, leaving Chad with no place to go. He collided with the car, ending his night. Night two provided another muddy track and another early draw, making good speed tough to find. He qualified 14th and finished 4th in his heat race, earning him a 14th starting place in the feature event. Chad quickly began his drive to the front, only to hard multiple yellow flags negate great passes. He had moved to 10th by lap 15, when a drastic change in the handling of the RS Service sprint car made the car nearly impossible to drive, as it spent more time on two wheels than four against the turn three cushion. The third time was not the charm, as the car bicycled hard in turn three on lap 17 and ending against the wall. Chad did a great job to keep it on al fours, but was disappointed in the result. “I felt like we had a car both nights that we could have ran top five, but we were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. I really did not know what happened to the car on Friday night, so it was god to know the radius rod broke rather just the handling went away. We will get it fixed and be ready for Perris next week.” Chad races at Manzanita
